Saltwater Tahitian Pearl Matching and Stringing

Click For Tahitian Cutting and Drilling

After Large Tahitian Pearls are drilled, the pearls are then matched as closely as possible. They are then strung as hanks into necklaces, bracelets etc. First, they are sorted based on size differences. The Tahitian pearls can get quite large, and the pearls on a necklace can have a size range of up to 6 mm difference. Afterwards, color, luster, and surface quality are matched up.

The jewelry is then created by the design stringers and labeled based on size and overall quality. The pearls are put on to 14 or 16 inch temporary strands call a hank. The technicians strive to create the best matched strand they can. After this they are labeled and shipped out to traders throughout the world. When they are received by retailers or wholesalers, the jewelry is then actually created by adding a clasp or earring post and can even be strung by the retailer. They are then ready to be sold to the consumer.
